The man, who would only be identified as Dave, said he parked his camper van in a reserve just south of the bridge on State Highway 1 between Waikouaiti and the Karitane turnoff, setting up for the start of whitebaiting season.

The auction is a way of publicly raising awareness and funds for a texting platform to connect youth with resources. Youth experiencing issues with bullying may be scared and not know what to do, says executive director Andrea Howorth, but by sending an anonymous text message to 211, they can access non-judgmental, professional support, as well as options, information, and referrals to services in their community that can help.
